Summary Description:
Green Acres School is seeking a part-time Middle School drama teacher. The ideal candidate is an effective and inspiring teacher who enjoys helping children understand the power and wonder of performance theater. The drama teacher reports directly to the Middle School Head.

The position includes teaching a 5th-grade drama class and producing and directing the Middle School spring musical. All rehearsals are part of the regular school day.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Maintain an emphasis on preparing students for the joys and challenges of learning
Participate in curriculum development, committee, and task force work
Perform necessary communication for families, write semester progress reports, and attend required meetings and events
Engage in reflective practice and various professional growth activities
Collaborate and work with the music director to produce the spring musical and to prepare younger Middle School students for our arts expo each semester
The qualified candidate will have:
Genuine love of learning and desire to work with children as a facilitator of learning
A degree with a major in education, theater, or a related field
Collaborative spirit and interest in team-teaching and creating a joyful learning environment
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to organize and manage a positive classroom grounded in a belief that all learning begins with attending to children’s developmental social and emotional needs
Willingness to create, teach and adapt an integrated, inquiry-based curriculum
Commitment to teaching diverse learning styles and differentiated instruction
Interest in outdoor, hands-on and environmental education
