Elementary Math & Science Teacher

Our Mission is to provide a rich academic and cultural foundation, which ensures the joy of discovery in each child and fosters curious, creative, critical thinkers.

NCCL School is seeking an enthusiastic and collaborative elementary teacher who will be responsible for teaching math, science, and team teaching social studies. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for a passionate teacher who views a child’s social and emotional development as important as academic development. An individual that sees themselves as a change maker and is conscious of their role in society. We are seeking culturally competent individuals who are able to design curriculum and choose activities that have the best chance of increasing the learning and engagement among a diverse group of students.

In its hiring practices, NCCL School deliberately seeks to maximize the diversity of the school (in terms of race, sexual orientation, gender, ethnicity, abilities/disabilities, age, religion, class, and language). We are most interested in finding the best candidate for the job, and that candidate may be one who comes from a less traditional background. We would encourage you to apply, even if you don’t believe you meet every one of our qualifications described.

We are looking for someone with:

  • A math and science background with conceptual understanding and involves real life problem solving.
  • Trust in a student centered learning environment
  • Comfortability talking about identities such as race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, class, ability, or gender in plain, specific terms.
  • Understanding of K-6 fundamental math concepts and the ability to anticipate and respond to children’s varied levels of math understanding.
  • Understanding and/or interest in science concepts and desire to plan and implement hands-on, inquiry-based curriculum.
  • Desire to work in an engaging progressive school community, and join a supportive staff that discusses curriculum, DEI efforts, and school operations.
  • Outside interests that will enrich our program will be welcomed and encouraged.
  • Able to hear, reflect, act on, and learn from feedback re: identity and equity.
  • Commitment to continual learning about the historical context for systemic inequity and its present-day implications.

Salary & Benefits:

  • $47,166 – $56,598 depending upon experience, with cost of living and longevity increases.
  • Health insurance
  • 401K with employer match
  • Short-term, long-term disability, and life insurance
