Executive Director for Spectrum Progressive School Job Description

Job Overview: The administrative operations and educational programming of the school are the primary responsibilities of the Executive Director. Continuous, clear and timely communication with all stakeholders is essential. The Executive Director is expected to perform related duties as well as other duties that may be assigned by the Board of Directors.

Essential Responsibilities:


Ultimate supervisory responsibility over all staff.

Teacher support and evaluations
Office and part time support staff
Recruit, interview and hire all teaching staff.
Together with appropriate board committee, recruit, interview and hire all non-teaching staff
Ensure communication and interpretation of existing and future education programs to parents, teachers and other stakeholders.
Conduct regular staff meetings and PLC meetings
Report monthly to the Board of Directors and prepare a report for the annual Board of Directors meeting for the directors and stakeholders.
Act as chief liaison between school and general public and media for PR and Marketing of the school

Business Administration:

Work with board and finance committee to collaborate on preparation of an annual budget.
Consult with the finance committee and bookkeeper to administer and monitor the approved budget.
Work to maintain and expand enrollment.

Educational Program:Administer research based best practices to fulfill the progressive, developmental educational philosophy of the school.
Support and facilitate their professional learning opportunities
Student intervention and support
Supervise and assist in assessment, intervention and progress monitoring of students with special needs and those needing academic or behavioral interventions beyond the scope of the regular classroom.
Liaison between Spectrum School and the Private and Parochial Special Services team from RPS205.

Qualifications,  Education and Experience:
The ideal candidate will have:Masters degree in education and minimum 7 years teaching experience
Administrator’s license/certificate
Teaching experience with multiple age groups
Special education endorsement and or experience
Leadership experience in an educational setting
