The Marylhurst School is a proud, progressive PreK through 8th grade school. We are hands-on, immersive, and project-based. The Marylhurst School is seeking a passionate and innovative Middle School STEM Teacher to join our dynamic faculty fall of 2024. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in progressive education, project-based learning, and a deep appreciation for working with middle school students.


  • Design and implement engaging and hands-on STEM curriculum that integrates science, technology, engineering, and mathematics concepts.
  • Foster a collaborative and inquiry-based learning environment that encourages students to ask questions, explore solutions, and think critically.
  • Utilize project-based learning approaches to engage students in real-world challenges and problem-solving activities.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students and create inclusive learning experiences.
  • Incorporate innovative teaching strategies, educational technology, and resources to enhance student learning and engagement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to develop interdisciplinary projects and activities that integrate STEM with other subjects.
  • Foster a positive and supportive classroom culture that promotes creativity, curiosity, and a growth mindset among students.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and the school community through effective communication and collaboration.
  • “Yes…and” mindset, with a focus on creativity, innovation, and adaptability.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, STEM-related field, or equivalent experience; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Valid teaching certification/license preferred.
  • Proven experience teaching STEM subjects at the middle school level.
  • Strong understanding of progressive education principles and practices.
  • Experience with project-based learning, inquiry-based instruction, and hands-on learning approaches.
  • Proficiency in integrating technology into instruction to enhance learning.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports the academic, social, and emotional development of students.
