Park Day School, founded in 1976, offers an outstanding co-educational K-8 program to 300 students. The school community embraces the ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic diversity of Oakland, is rooted in the tenets of progressive education, and reinforces 21st Century pedagogy. Our lush, four-acre campus is located in the vibrant Temescal neighborhood of Oakland, CA. Overview of the Position
Reporting to the Lower School Director, the school seeks an experienced, vibrant outdoor educator who brings a strong background in science, gardening and place-based learning to their teaching practice, both on-site and remote. Class size is between 16-18 students. An outdoor classroom and yurt are available as the primary classrooms. The hiring process will include a screening interview and school tour. Finalists will submit samples of lesson plans, student assessments, and parent communication; lead a demonstration lesson for students; and participate in a second interview with the full hiring committee.
