Job Description and Responsibilities

Giddens School is looking for a creative, positive, and dynamic teacher to teach a multi-grade class and to be an active member of a collaborative teaching team. Our ideal candidate will:

  • Value our school mission and enrich their instruction with a commitment to diversity, social justice, and progressive, integrated learning models
  • Have deep knowledge of elementary content and pedagogy
  • Have the ability to build a positive and inclusive classroom community
  • Be a creative and strong team member; one who enjoys collaboration and views the work of teaching as public practice
  • Be committed to working with Specialist and Extended Day Teachers in an effort to further connections for students and give talent a place to grow
  • Be an advocate for social responsibility through a strong commitment to academics and social-emotional growth for all students
  • View student’s families and the greater community as partners in education and value the contributions they can provide
  • Have three or more years of experience teaching at elementary grade levels


We are a professional, highly engaged faculty and we are looking for positive, pro-active people to join us. The ideal candidate for this full-time position will have:

  • a Masters Degree in Education and/or be Washington State or Nationally Board certified in Elementary Education
  • deep knowledge of the developmental needs of lower and upper elementary students
  • strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
